Teaching & Consulting
I consider my role as an educator, both formally and informally, to be an essential part of both my personality and my artistic practice. I offer one-on-one teaching or consulting on a wide variety of topics including printing, photography, the business of photography, and digital processing tools at a rate of $75/hr, $275/half day, and $500/full day. Simply contact me with details of what you would like me to teach, and I am happy to prepare my teaching materials accordingly.
I also teach more formal workshops both of my own organization and through the excellent Maine Media Workshops.
My first Craftsy online course, Editing Techniques for Night Photography, is available at Craftsy.com -- and you can use this link to receive discounted pricing. If you are interested in field techniques, I can recommend Lance Keimig's Night Photography course on Craftsy, too.
I offer a wide variety of customizable photography workshops for individuals or groups. Photographic opportunities abound here on the beautiful coast of Maine, and my photographic workshops take advantage of the area’s natural beauty. I love working one-on-one with students and will accommodate the class structure based on your personal preferences.
Depending on the inclinations of the students, I emphasize photographing in the field, digital processing of images in my Camden, Maine studio, portfolio reviews, the business of photography, editing, developing vision and creativity, or any combination of these topics. I have extensive expertise with both film and digital camera as well as the primary digital processing tools on both the PC and Mac platforms.
Attention to the needs of the workshop student is my highest priority and I do not photograph myself during workshops.
Workshop costs per person are $275 for a half day and $500 for a full day workshop, and significant individual discounts are available for group workshops. You can find out more about upcoming group photographic workshops here.
Fine Art Digital Printmaking Workshops
I offer fine art digital printmaking workshops for either individuals or groups at my studio in lovely Camden, Maine. My extensive experience creating fine art digital prints for scores of artists as founder of Nickelson Editions provides the backbone for these workshops.
Each workshop is customized for the interests and abilities of the students, and covers topics ranging from creating a master digital file to optimizing for print to paper selection for a particular project. Workshop participants should return home with at least one museum quality print of their work.
Workshop costs per person are $275 for a half day and $500 for a full day workshop, and significant individual discounts are available for group workshops. You can find out more about upcoming group printing workshops here.
