My exhibition closes on this coming Sunday, and I'll be here at Pascal Hall (86 Pascal Ave. in Rockport) every day until then, 1-5 pm (except for closing early at 4 pm on Saturday). I do have an artist talk tomorrow night from 5:30-6:30 pm on Thursday, August 16th, so I'll be open late that day. Hope to see you during the exhibition!
I'm incredibly excited about my upcoming exhibition at Portland's PhoPa Gallery that opens next week. The exhibition, entitled Cosmos, will have over twenty framed pieces from multiple of my bodies of work.
The exhibition goes from June 13th through July 28th, with an opening reception on Thursday, June 14th, from 5-7 pm. I'll give an artist talk on Wednesday, June 27th, from 5:30-6:30 pm. Hope to see everyone there!
The annual Acadia Night Sky Festival takes place this coming week with a whole range of events, including a lecture on Wednesday night (Sept. 20th) by Nate Levesque and myself, each on our respective night sky photography. The lecture is free to the public and from 7-8 pm (and created in partnership with Maine Media Workshops and College). And while you are up there, you can check out many of other great events planned (and hopefully the weather will be clear for the night sky ones).
Tuesday night, April 18th (okay - that is tonight!), I’ll be part of a public discussion of science and photography at the Boston Athenaeum from 6-7:30 pm. Bob Hesse, Thibault Roland, and myself will each make a short presentation and then engage in a round-table discussion regarding the impact of science on our creative processes.
I'll be making a presentation at the Capital Area Camera Club in Augusta, Maine next week on April 4th. The presentation is from 7-9 pm and is located at the Kaplan University Augusta campus, and is open to the public. I'll be talking about the progression of my work over the last 10 years, particularly with respect to photographing the night. Hope to see you there if you are in the area!
February's issue of Digital Output magazine features me in an article about artists who do their own large format fine art printing. I'm not sure if the screen capture above is actually readable, but I'm excited to be featured in the magazine!
I have a presentation coming up next week down in South Portland at the Portland Camera Club on Monday, January 23rd, at 7 pm. I'll be presenting my night photography to the group and based on previous experiences I'm sure it will be a good time. Hope to see you there!
I’m extremely excited to announce that I’ll be making a presentation of my work at the Rockport Opera House this coming Monday, August 22nd, at 7:30 pm as part of the Maine Media Workshops Evening Lectures Series. I’ll be joining the legendary Jay Maisel as we both give presentations about our work.
I’ve attended many of these lectures over the years but this is the first one that I’m giving myself, and I’m honored to share the night with Jay. MMW puts on these presentations with instructors that are teaching that week and they are open to the public. I won’t make any rash promises about my own talk, but Jay Maisel’s presentation is always highly entertaining. I hope you can join us there!
I'll be presenting a slideshow of my photography at the Eastern Maine Camera Club Meeting this coming Thursday, April 7th, at 6:30 pm. The presentation is free and open to the public. The presentation will be in the Senior room at Bangor Parks and Rec, 647 Main Street in Bangor, ME.
I'm really looking forward to this presentation, if you are in the Bangor area, I'd love to see you there!
I'll be presenting at the upcoming Pecha Kucha event hosted by the Griffin Museum of Photography in Winchester, MA at noon on Sunday, October 5th. I'll be joined by 5 other photographers for the event.
I've done Pecha Kucha presentations before, but this will be my first one about my Pyrotechnic series. If you haven't seen these fast-moving presentations before, each presenter speaks 20 seconds about each of 20 slides.
Tickets are available until September 29th here. There is also brunch provided before the presentations. These events are always a lot of fun and great way to get exposed to new work. Hope to see you there!
